TED Lecture

This TED Talk features Zak Ebrahim, who was only 7 years old when his father helped to plan the World Trade Center bombing. His story is shocking, powerful, and inspiring as it proves that you can always choose peace.

This TED Lecture relates to Carmen Bin Ladin's novel, Inside The Kingdom. This is true because they are both stories about people who chose to free themselves from the terror filled lifestyles their relatives chose to lead. Both Zak and Carmen escaped these lives and chose paths of peace, freedom and choice.  These qualities are clearly both highly valued in the eyes of both parties. Zak and Carmen were both in families who planned 9/11, and had to deal with the repercussions of emotional turmoil, and hate from the media.

Then, and today they both use all their power to fight against the bigotry and the senseless actions of terrorism, as well as the inequality and medieval beliefs that are prevalent in Saudi Arabia. The overall theme which both stories take, is that children, whether son or daughter, do not need to take the same path as their fathers. Carmen made sure her daughters did not have to, and Zak made the decision on his own. These 2 powerful people prove how big of an impact sharing your story and choosing your destiny  has on changing  the world.
